Independent Living Service (ILS)

You may find you require a little extra support to be able to live independently and this is where we can help.

Our Independent Living Service (ILS) provides support in your own home to increase your independence so that you can live a healthy and enjoyable life.

How much support and what type of support you receive is dependent on your needs

Our Support Workers will work with you to create a package of care which will include:
  • Teaching you skills including cooking, cleaning and budgeting.
  • Helping you to access activities within the local community.
  • Helping you to maintain a tenancy.
  • Ensure your utility bills are paid.
  • Encourage you to keep the property to a good standard.
  • Offering emotional support and guidance to improve your mental health and wellbeing.

We will ensure your medical and social care needs are monitored and offer you guidance on how and when to take your medication. Should you need further care or support, we work in partnership with community teams and organisations and can signpost to these if necessary.

If you require 24-hour support, you must be happy to house share with one other person and feel comfortable with a support worker sleeping in a third bedroom overnight. However, if you only require a number of hours support per week, we will devise a care package with you to meet your needs.

People accessing this service have been assessed to be safe in the community but could potentially become unwell quite quickly so need additional support to live well and maintain some independence.

At KPG, our counselling sessions offer you a safe space to talk about the issues you are facing and explore difficult feelings in a confidential, non-judgemental environment.

We have a team of qualified and student counsellors from a wide range of counselling and psychotherapy backgrounds who are experienced in a diverse range of therapies.

Our counselling sessions are flexible and open to individuals, couples, and families. We will aim to see you as quickly as possible, and our team of qualified and trainee counsellors can tailor sessions to offer you both long and short-term support.

We aim to provide counselling to everyone who needs it, especially those who otherwise wouldn’t have access to the therapy they require. Whilst we do receive some donations, there is a cost attached to our counselling sessions. Where possible, and if funding through donations are available, you may be offered some free sessions to support you with how you are feeling, your wellbeing and your mental health

As we are a charity we do have to charge for our sessions, however on occasion we do receive funding to support our local communities. On occasion this means we may be able to reduce the cost for you to receive support. Whilst this isn’t always possible we are always here to talk and offer some support should you need it

Prices per session start at £30, and depend on your income.
Do get in touch or visit our website to find out more:

Due to social distancing restrictions surrounding COVID-19, our counselling service will not be taking place face-to-face. However, we’re still here to help.

Our counsellors are continuing to offer support through either telephone or virtual online chat, held via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

Primary Mental Health Workers

Supporting children, young people, families and carers

About

If you’re going through a difficult time or are struggling with how you’re feeling, it can be scary and upsetting and you might not know who to turn to for help.

At Kaleidoscope, our Primary Mental Health Workers (PMHW’s) specialise in children and young people’s emotional and mental health and wellbeing and can offer support to both you and your family when things get tough.

We will listen to you without judgement in a safe environment and work with you to improve your social skills as well as your wellbeing and take away some any immediate pressures

What type of support will I receive?

Our PMHW’s will carry out an assessment to find out more about what kind of support might be suitable for you. The type of support you will be offered will be dependent on this assessment

Who can access this service?

Our PMHW service is for children and young people aged 16 and under, however the support we offer is suitable for the whole family.

If you are a parent or carer and are finding life a little difficult, need additional support to help manage your child’s wellbeing or are worried about violence or substance abuse, we can help.

We can also offer support to help you understand what a care giving role looks like and how it should be received.

How can I get a referral?

To be referred to our PMHW service please email our partners CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service).

CAMHS will act on your behalf to get a referral to our service.
