Advice Services

Brushstrokes Community Project provides support for asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants across Sandwell, West Birmingham, and the Black Country.

The service offers practical advice, advocacy, outreach, immigration support, and ongoing casework to help people navigate complex systems, improve stability, and access the support they need during periods of uncertainty, transition, or hardship.

  • support understanding immigration processes and rights
  • housing-related support and homelessness prevention
  • support accessing benefits and local services
  • settlement and integration support
  • employability and work readiness support
  • volunteering, education, and language support
  • practical support including clothing, food, baby items, and household essentials where available
  • community activities and social connection

The service aims to help people reduce isolation, improve stability, strengthen community connections, and build safer and more settled lives within their local community.

The service helps people improve confidence, develop skills, and better understand the process of finding work and accessing opportunities in the UK.

Support may include:
  • CV writing and job search support
  • help completing applications and cover letters
  • work readiness and confidence building
  • volunteering opportunities
  • support accessing education, training, and ESOL opportunities
  • guidance understanding employment systems and local opportunities
  • signposting and referral to wider support services

The service aims to help people improve independence, strengthen stability, and access opportunities for longer-term settlement and integration within the local community.
